Services Providers |
|
There are many broadband by satellite providers. We have not tried all of them and we do not recommend any of them, but here is a list of things to consider:
What is your minimum contract period?
What does it really cost to use the service?
Can you get hold of them when you need their support?
What satellite are they pointing at? Many will tell you that everyone in the UK can receive their service but you may have a tree in your back garden or a building obstructing the view of their satellite.
What speed do they run at and what speed do they guarantee? Although most will not guarantee any speed as the service will slow down as more people use the service.
Beware of people telling you that you can get the install done very cheap and with a small dish size.
We recommend that you decide what service you want to subsribe to and find out what satellite they use. We would then be happy to come and do a survey and tell you if you can get a signal from your house and show you where the dish would go. You would not need to be in, as we can do it without entering your house. We charge a survey fee but should we install your system it would be refunded.
Our recommendation
Before you part with your money make sure you will be able to receive their service from your property. Remember you are talking to sales people who may not be technical and need to sell to make a living.
If you have Sky Digital, your dish is pionted at 28.5 East.
If you are watching analog German TV, you are pointed at 19.2East
If you are watching JSTV, you are pointed at 15 East.
