What are the monthly charges for subsription to the service?

This depends on the service provider but it should be from £15 subscription and then from £20/month for 1000mb download or 35 for 2000mb. These are just a guide, as the costs are changing all the time. We would be glad to help you choose a service provider based on our experience, but you should confirm our advice with the service provider before you sign any agreement.

Why do the service providers cap download?

This is because the cost on bandwidth on satellite is very expensive. Most of the providers are using spare commercial space on the satellite which is why most of them restrict your surfing to out of business hours. All that said network operators are re-assessing  the 'always-on' and flat charge policy and it will not be long until all operators change their policy, as it is not financially viable to continue as they are.

Does it cost more than BT broadband to use?

Yes it does, but if you cannot get broadband where you are then by satellite broadband is your only option. Tthe cost is coming down all the time.

Does your company use it and why?

As one of our directors lives in the wilds (4 miles from a major town!) BT say it is not cost effective to supply us with broadband.
